Buffet upgrades: Heated versus Platter

The quick answer

Research an ordinary Buffet blueprint into Heated or Platter, then cycle between the two. Heated can keep Fajita pans sizzling; Platter stores up to three identical unplated foods. In 1.5.2, neither upgrade appears on Blueprint Desks.

Heated’s 0.5× Cook field is observed in the 1.5.0-889A preview. Supply restrictions follow 1.5.2-7473, not a new timing test.

Research the variants

Store an upgradable Buffet blueprint in a same-room Cabinet next to a Research Desk. Research during service, then check the resulting name next preparation.

The first result is Buffet - Heated or Buffet - Platter. Further research cycles between them. Decide whether to buy after checking which variant suits the food.

Compare their jobs

Variant What it does When it helps
Heated Cooks and keeps Fajita pans sizzling; the 1.5.0 preview shows 0.5× Cook Hot-state food needs reheating or warmth during self-service
Platter Stores up to 3 identical unplated foods A small buffer for matching sides or condiments

Heated is not a faster Hob. The preview describes half the standard hob speed and shows the matching flame-rate field. Already-cooked sizzling pans can arrive from a hob and remain warm for collection.

Platter does not provide three slots for arbitrary plated meals. Its foods must be unplated and identical. Both variants still need the customer outline and approach path to be usable.

Follow the 1.5.2 supply change

The 1.5.2-7473 announcement says Heated and Platter no longer appear on Blueprint Desks and are rarer in shops. Do not keep waiting to lock these upgrades at a Blueprint Desk. Researching the basic Buffet has a documented route; a possible shop upgrade does not guarantee a particular day.

Check plating compatibility before sending a dish to Platter. Heated’s name does not imply increased storage capacity.

The 0.5× field belongs to the observed 1.5.0-889A, 0 mods preview, not a timed confirmation of every current platform. An incorrect Coin icon on one Wiki field and an incorrect Heated heading on the Platter page are not evidence of half-price food or a different appliance.

The 1.5 preview on YouTube shows the Heated field. Treat it as that preview’s evidence, not a timing test of every later build.
